2021 Community Report

East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority is investing in our city’s future by attracting and using capital to build new sustainable neighborhoods and enhancing the quality of life for families.  In its 2021 Community Report, EBRPHA shares its vision and its progress in creating new transformative communities for today, tomorrow and in the future by leveling its resources with private investments to change the landscape of neighborhoods in greater Baton Rouge. In its Community Report, EBRPHA highlights two major new housing communities, one in South Baton Rouge and the other in North Baton Rouge, totaling more than 150 modern, energy efficient apartment homes. Cypress at Pinchback for Seniors and Capstone at Scotlandville are featured as they near completion in this latest report.

Working with its partners, EBRPHA deepened its services in 2021 to residents by investing in an agricultural and educational initiative by constructing 44 community gardens in 11 of its affordable housing communities. Residents received in-depth training in urban farming and learned about nutritional benefits along the way. In addition, EBRPHA supported a new Homestart Literacy program, providing residents with infants and toddlers with educational materials and twice a week visits from educators for kindergarten readiness.
